Eligibility:

Applicants should hold an MSc (or an equivalent degree) in biological sciences or related disciplines. We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate with strong interest in sensory research.

Scholarship Description: We are a newly established, DFG-funded Emmy-Noether Research Group at the Max Planck Institute of Experimental Medicine. To build up our team we offer a PhD position (f/m) in Biology, Medicine or related fields starting not later than November 2012.Our research focuses on the molecular analysis of somatosensory signaling in vertebrates. Specifically, we are interested in the comparative and quantitative analysis of signaling networks involved in different pain states in both, the peripheral and central nervous system. The offered project combines several techniques, i.e. biochemistry and proteomics, molecular biology, physiology (calcium-imaging in neuronal cell culture) and mouse behavioral work.
