2% Paraformaldehyde Vs formalin or Methanol for fixation of cells

 I am an undergraduate research scientist, and I wanted to know what the benefits are for using paraformaldehyde for fixing U87 glioblastoma cells as opposed to methanol or formalin. In general, why is paraformaldehyde used for cell fixation?
