Hello, I operate a highly specialized histology lab and have clients nationwide. I am looking for an inexpensive way to scan whole slides for telepathology. Any suggestions or what are you using?

There are couple of Ideas One which is used in educational institutes is a CCD that is connected to a microscope and with a use of a capturing devise and a computer the image can be digitized and send as a jpeg, gif. etc. Guy

Thanks!
I already have digital cameras attached to my microscopes.
I find very little time anymore to sit at the scope and take individual fields, save the pics, name the pics, adjust brightness, etc. & email the pics. Although I did recently setup a Picasa account. I am looking for a way to scan the whole slide for the PI to view remotely.

we use a imaging system from Hamamatzu. That allows us to look at our slides via a server at our own computers. Maybe not the cheepest one, but it's nice.

How's your experience of Pathscan Enabler IV? We are looking for a imaging device to scan the large microcope slides. Pathscan Enabler can only scan the standard size of the slide. Any suggestions?

Thanks, I have cameras attached to the microscopes, but I no longer have the time to sit and take individual fields. I purchased a new Pathscan Enabler IV and this works great for low mag pics. Very, very easy to use too.
And I just purchased a used Acis system made by Chromavision and it will automatically scan the whole slide at different magnifications.

hi
i am looking for a whole slide scanning system , also. but all of product that i found ( nikon , hamamatsu, dmetrix, aperio) are highly expensive. path scan seems to generate low magninfication of tissue ( I need at leat 40 X magninfication !!! ).
would you please onform me about your experience and result of your work about this issue. i want to know more about pathscan image quality and magnification .
in last comment you indicate to choroma vision . what is it and what the capibility of this instrument. can we have a virtual slide with this instrument?
excuse me for my question!! but i found you donn,t need any more comment about your question response

We now offer fluorescent scanning and multiplexed IF and IHC bridge staining, where we combine brightfield and fluorescence whole slide scanning. This is a great way to try out the technology before buying a fluorescent whole slide scanner.
Digital pathology fluorescence is a growing area.

My company Micro Optical Solutions can offer to provide slide scanning of your histology slides
Once slides are scanned I can then give you a high resolution image of the slide that you and your customers can view with the free Objective Imaging viewer
Images are scanned with the objectie of your selection, 4x, 10x, 20x, 40x
We use a standard high resolutions Olympus BX transmittedl light microscope with firewire digital camera. The images captures are designed to acquire all the resolution produced by the objectives.
If you have thicker sections at higher scanning powers, we can do a z-stack at each captured location to provide the best in focus images.
File sizes depend on your needs. For example 2 mm round tissue array of breast cancer scanned at 40x objective had file size of about 2 gigabytes.
The viewer gives user the ability to view full image at lower resolution, then to magnify any portion of the image to the full captured resolution.
Check out our website www.microopticalsolutions.com
If you had a sample slide to send to us I can set up live web demo of our scanning capability and quality
The cost for the scanning service depends on magnificaiton, size of tissues, number of pieces per slide ect. Fill out our form and email back to us for costing
Look foward to your response
Best regards
Dick
