Hi, i will study nthy-ori 3-1 cell line (ECCAC number: 90011609) for my experiment. The problem is that i can't decide which kind of HBSS culture medium i should use. There are four main types which are:

HBSS with Ca without Mg

HBSS with Mg without Ca

HBSS without Ca and Mg

HBSS with Ca and Mg

I couldn't find any info on ECCAC page.

Thanks,
tanyag

The Ca and Mg help the cells clump together. This is why DPBS Ca Mg free is used to 'wash' cells when trypsinizing attached cell lines. So it will depend on what your cell line does. If you want to prevent clumping (particularly with suspension cells) Ca Mg free is the way to go.
