Pain and Analgesia: molecular mechanisms of new therapeutic drugs and targets

mso-ansi-language:EN-US">

mso-ansi-language:EN-US">The main goal of this project is to evaluate the molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in pain and analgesia, using, when appropriate, substances derived from animal venoms as tools for such characterization Candidates should have experience with in vitro assays to evaluate the molecular and cellular mechanisms of pain and analgesia, for example, techniques such as RT-PCR, immunohistochemistry, western blotting, adhesion, patch clamp and invasion assays for 2D and 3D in vitro assays, applied to neuronal tissue or cell culture.  Prior experience with in vivo behavior assays to evaluate pain is also desirable.

The funds are equivalent to 15 per cent of the annual value of the fellowship. Together with the Scientific Report, the Fellowship holder should report on the use of the Research Contingency Funds. This Report should be approved by the Supervisor. The fellowship demands full time dedication to the research project.
