Advice on purification of bacterial RNA from agar plates?

Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone has ever purified bacterial RNA directly from bacteria grown on agar solid plates? I have done a lot of purification of RNA (via Trizol) but only ever on liquid culture. Our question of interest requires us to purify directly from a plate, but I'm not sure how successful this will be. Does anyone have any advice or experience with this?

Is a lawn from a plate sufficient to get enough RNA to make cDNA? Or would more or less be required?

Any advice on what to resuspend the cells in prior to lysing would be great too.

Thanks!
