DNA vaccines delivered by bacteriophages

Big DNA is a start up company based at the Roslin BioCentre just outside Edinburgh, Scotland. They are developing vaccines that use bacteriophage lambda to deliver a DNA expression cassette specific for the immunogen of choice. Improved vaccine stability, shorter development times and the potential for oral administration make these an attractive proposition. In some direct comparisons to existing vaccines, it has also been demonstrated that a single administration of a phage-delivered vaccine can be more effective than three shots of a traditional vaccine.
