Associate Staff scientist - Disease Research


The successful candidate will join the Biological Systems Research Team at Philip Morris Products S.A. in Neuchâtel, Switzerland and will play a major role in the development and application of primary cell cultures to Translational Systems Biology and eventually to Product Testing. These approaches are focused on understanding more about the mechanisms of diseases caused by cigarette smoke, in order to support the development and assessment of new products with the potential to reduce the risks of smoking-related diseases.

Specifically, you will:

  • Lead the writing of internal grant proposals for the approval of project budgets
  • Lead the in vitro and in vivo model development of disease models through matrix management
  • Lead the development and execution of cell-based assays and mechanistic experiments
  • Lead the production of Systems Biology data with such cellular systems and assays
  • Contribute to the development and characterization of a variety of primary cell cultures and cell lines
  • Have scientific writing and critical review skills essential for the production of concise, detailed project reports which represent a coherent synthesis of the biology of the experimental system


  • PhD in life sciences with demonstrated expertise in Cardiovascular Disease, Lung Cancer or COPD Research
  • 3-5 years of post-doctoral experience in a research environment
  • Demonstrated track record of scientific achievements
  • Experience in a project-oriented, deadline-driven team environment
  • Demonstrated experience in team leadership will be an advantage
  • Fluency in English is a must
