Research Associate at Tumor Immunology and Immunotherapy at University College London – UCL Cancer Institute
The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £31,778 – £38,441 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance. Appointments will normally be made at the bottom point of this range. A postdoctoral position is available within the newly established “Immune Regulation and Tumor Immunotherapy” group of Dr. Sergio Quezada and to work in concert with the group of Dr. Karl Peggs, both at the UCL Cancer Institute. The main purpose of our group is to investigate the interplay between the immune system and tumors in transplantable and inducible mouse models of cancer and to identify, study and target immune-regulatory pathways restricting anti-tumor immunity. The successful candidate will join a strongly collaborative group of scientists and will be expected to actively participate in all aspects of the research with particular focus in the cellular and molecular mechanisms that define the fate and function of tumor reactive CD4 helper, killer and regulatory T cells.
This is a full time position funded by Cancer Research UK for 3 years in the first instance and is initially available from December 2010.
Applicants must hold or be in the process of submitting a PhD in immunology and have a strong background and significant experience working with mouse models of cancer, tumor immunology, immune regulation, in vivo and in vitro cellular immunology techniques, flow cytometry, sterile tissue culture, in vivo mouse studies and molecular biology techniques. Previous experience with imaging, and transcriptional regulation of T cell function would be advantageous.
