Imperial College London - Department of Infectious Disease and Epidemiology, School of Public Health

Salary Range: £26,860 - £36,040 per annum

Priority consideration will be given to staff at risk of redundancy

Applications are invited to join the Department Infectious Disease Epidemiology located at St Mary's campus, Paddington. The department is based within a five star research institute equipped with the latest technologies and facilities.
We are seeking an exceptional Research Associate with extensive experience in mathematical modelling and HIV epidemiology to work on an exciting new HIV modelling opportunity at the interface between research, public health and policy.
In order to promote the timely, appropriate and valid use of models in planning and evaluating HIV interventions and determining priorities for future research and investment, we have received 3 years of funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to form an HIV Modelling Consortium. The aims of the consortium will be to prioritise questions for modelling analysis and ensure that model development and analysis progresses in a transparent and timely fashion to meet the needs of policy makers. To achieve these goals we will develop workshops and issue calls for proposals for work preparing for these workshops from the HIV modelling community. The lead investigators are Prof Geoff Garnett and Dr Tim Hallett.
The Research Associate post will work closely with Professor Garnett and Dr Hallett to write calls for proposals, oversee the reviewing of proposals, organising the workshops and writing reports from the meetings (Reference SM008-11b).
Applicants should have a strong background in infectious disease epidemiology or population biology and should be motivated, well organised and able to work effectively as part of a team.
This is a full time post for a fixed-term until 30 September 2013 in the first instance.
