 The University of Kentucky, Center for Applied Energy Research (CAER) anticipates adding a postdoctoral researcher position in the
CO2 capture area. The positions primary responsibility will be in catalyst development and evaluation. A summary of the position is
listed below:
Postdoctoral Scholar
The University of Kentucky, Center for Applied Energy Research (CAER) is seeking to fill an immediate full-time postdoctoral
opening. The successful candidate will develop catalysts to enhance CO2 capture processes. Specific focus will be placed on the
development of organometallic complexes that function effectively for CO2 hydration in a post combustion CO2 capture solvent
The position requires a Ph.D. in chemistry from an accredited college or university. Prior experience in the CO2 capture research
field and related catalysts is highly desirable.
The ideal candidate should:
• Possess good understanding of chemical kinetics and mass transfer properties.
• Have good experience and ability to synthesize organometallic complexes.
• Possess proficiency with experimental design and execution.
• Have creativity and be able to formulate new research directions.
• Have understanding and ability to use computational simulation for catalyst design.
• Be able to work both independently and as a member of a research team.
• Have excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to present their work at scientific meetings and to
peer-reviewed journals.
