A postdoctoral research position is available at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School in the Department of Radiation Oncology, Division of Medical Physics and Biophysics.
Candidates with a Ph.D., or equivalent, in biomedical engineering, tumor biology, biophysics, chemistry, engineering or related subject are invited to apply. The successful applicant will participate in an NIH-funded pre-clinical project related to nanoparticles in radiation therapy. We are seeking a motivated individual with well-developed scientific skills and a desire to tackle technical problems. An appointment will be made as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School.
Specific experience that would be highly valued:
•Substantial skills in developing orthotopic, metastatic and transgenic tumor models (pancreatic, lung, colon etc.) and expertise in intravenous, retro-orbital, and i.p. injections
•Prior experience in cell-based assays for apoptosis, DNA damage, and free radicals
•Proficiency in tumor biology and hand-on experiences in performing FACS, IHC, IF, ELISA, RT-PCR, electrophoresis, and western blotting techniques
•Sound knowledge in nanoparticles and ability to synthesize, conjugate (covalent) and functionalize different nanoformulations suitable for radiation therapy
•Considerable knowledge in MR, PET, Ultrasound imaging will be a plus
