A postdoctoral position is available at the Department of Developmental Neurophysiology, Center for Molecular Neurobiology Hamburg, Germany.
Our group investigates the synchronized patterns of electrical activity in the immature brain, their relevance for development of cognitive and behavioral abilities and their impairment associated with neurological disorders like perinatal ischemia and schizophrenia (www.zmnh.uni-hamburg.de/zmnh/groups/hanganu/hanganu)
Recent publications: Brockmann et al., Neuron (2011); Janiesch et al., JNeurosci. (2011).
The multidisciplinary project encompasses in vivo and in vitro electrophysiology, molecular biology, behavioral and pharmacological investigation.
Candidates should have a PhD or MD and a strong background in neuroscience/signal processing. They should be creative, independent, motivated and technically skilled. Experience in developing algorithms in Matlab is essential. Practical experience in electrophysiology is preferred but not required. Good communication skills are mandatory.
The position is available from May 2012 or later and will run initially for 2-3 years.
The salary will be on the level of the German public service research salary (E13).
