Job description:
This project is an Integrated Activity of the Cluster of Excellence ?Integrated Climate System Analysis and Prediction? (CliSAP). The main objectives are the preparation and execution of multi-decadal runs with high-resolution atmospheric model (ECHAM) at German Climate Computing Center (DKRZ) ? using NCEP surface conditions and large-scale constraints. The simulations will be used for a number of applications, e.g., coastal seas, ocean eddies and ocean waves.
This project is collaboration between the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht, the University of Hamburg, the German Weather Forecast Service, and the Max-Planck-Institute for Meteorology. The position is located at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht, Germany.
Required qualifications are:
PhD (or be about to complete) in physics, mathematics or meteorology/atmospheric physics or in a related scientific field
experience with complex dynamical models
experience in a higher programming language
strong motivation, also to publish results in peer-reviewed journals
ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English
