Postdoc position in membrane Biology 2011 at University of Bern, Switzerland
We are looking for a postdoctoral scientist in membrane biology. The position is available at the Institute of Anatomy, Dept. of Cell Biology, University of Bern, starting February 2011 for 2 years, an extension is possible. The candidate should have a strong background in cell and molecular biology and should ideally be familiar with imaging techniques.
Our group is studying mechanisms of plasma membrane repair and cell survival. Our toolkit for monitoring cell death or survival is the annexin protein family. Their differential Ca2+- dependent interaction with phospholipids is a sensitive indicator of intracellular Ca2+-homeostasis (http://www.ana.unibe.ch/~cellbiology/index.html).
The position is funded by the Canton of Bern and additionally involves teaching of preclinical medical students (tutorials, supervisions). Basic knowledge and continuous improvement of the German language is therefore mandatory.
The candidate is expected to visit the lab for a personal interview.
