Job Summary:
Designs, executes, and interprets research involving cutting-edge techniques to investigate the biology of human melanoma. Functions semi-independently in developing new and modifying existing, often non-routine methodologies in pursuit of the scientific goals of the laboratory and in accordance with established procedures, safety precautions, and hospital policies. Records, organizes, analyzes, summaries, and presents data to the principal investigator, and prepare manuscripts for publication.
Job Description:
A basic research position is available at the Department of Dermatology to study tumor progression, angiogenesis, and stem cells in human melanoma. The project will involve expression analyses, molecular manipulations of target gene expression using viral vectors, and functional analyses in an artificial skin model as well as in experimental animals.
Job Skills:
Highly motivated individuals (PhD and/or MD) with strong background in cell and molecular biology are encouraged to apply. Previous training in animal techniques and expertise in cancer biology is preferred but not a requirement. Successful candidates are expected to function semi-independently.
