PhD and Post-doc Positions in Materials Physics and Nanotechnology, Germany

Eligibility:
PhD position: The candidates should have a master degree (or equivalent) in materials physics, theoretical physics of nanostructures, or a related field and should have a good academic record including publications.

Some familiarity and knowledge with at least one of the first principles simulation software such as Vienna Ab-initio Simulation Package (VASP) or other similar modelling softwares. Some basic knowledge in at least one of the ab-initio quantum mechanical methods such as density functional theory, tight binding, k.p perturbation theory etc.

Postdoc position: The candidates must have a PhD (or equivalent) in semiconductor devices and/or nano-devices, energy-related fields, or materials physics. The candidate should be able to demonstrate an outstanding academic record, especially with excellent publication records. Furthermore, research experiences in energy-related fields, such as solar cells, solar fuels, or supercapacitor, are highly desirable.

Scholarship Description:We are seeking highly motivated candidates for a PhD and a Postdoc position in the Surface Nano-Structuring Group (Leader: Prof. Dr. Yong Lei) at Institute of Materials Physics and Center for Nanotechnology in the University of Muenster in Germany.

The main research fields in the Surface Nano-Structuring Group include surface nano-patterning and molecular surface nano-structures, 1-D nanostructures, and their diverse applications (optical, electronic, and energy-related). Starting dates for all positions are flexible.

Interested candidates are encouraged to submit their applications at their earliest convenience. For questions of these positions please contact Prof. Dr. Yong Lei (yong.lei-at-uni-muenster.de). Please include the following documents in your application (preferably in a PDF-file):

CV, email addresses of 3 referees (one should be the PhD supervisor), a description of your research achievement and qualifications (include a complete publication list). Applications should be sent to: yong.lei-atuni-muenster.de
