The University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is recruiting for an academic neuropathologist. The candidate will be appointed in the department with 5/8ths funding available from the William S. Middleton Veterans Administration Hospital (VA). Qualified candidates should possess an MD or MD/PhD and be board certified in AP or AP/CP as well as in neuropathology. Candidate must be qualified for unrestricted licensure for the practice of medicine in Wisconsin.
The University of Wisconsin Medical Center is a tertiary care center with comprehensive programs in cancer, transplantation and trauma. Successful applicant will be expected to provide neuropathology clinical expertise in surgical pathology as well as autopsy pathology, and also to contribute actively to the teaching of residents, fellows and medical students, mentor trainees, participate in continuing medical education programs, and engage in scholarly research. Candidates will show a record of scholarly achievement appropriate to the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor (tenure track).
In addition to performing routine service work, the individual will be expected to continue or develop a research program preferably in the area of neurobiology of Alzheimer’s disease and to mentor graduate students. Due to the VA appointment, the successful candidate will be eligible for VA merit review grant funding. The candidate will dedicate significant effort to the NIA-funded Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center which provides numerous opportunities for collaboration. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
