The Women and Children's Health Research Institute (WCHRI) is major academic component of Guangzhou Women and Children's Medical Center and research community of Sun Yat-Sen University and Guangzhou Medical University, dedicating to conduct basic, clinical and translational research on conditions and diseases that affect women and children.
We are focusing on women and children's health and particularly interested in the following areas: applied genomics, cellular and molecular therapeutics, clinical pharmacology, epigenetics, hematopoiesis, immunopathology, neuroscience, pediatric heart disease, fetal biology and therapy, reproductive medicine, childhood and gynecological cancerand etc.
With a wide range of jobs available, WCHRI offers opportunities in a variety of disciplines and fields. WCHRI is seeking Principal Investigators wishing to develop competitive laboratory research and translational research programmes, combining outstanding clinical research with excellent basic science. This position offers a unique and exciting opportunity for an extremely capable individual to develop and lead internationally recognized research program.
He/she will play a principal role in defining specific goals in the area of research, and will help develop partnership, implement strategies ensuring the achievement of these goals.
He/she must have a strong commitment to translational research, fostering and expanding interactions between the researchers in Children's Health Research Institute and clinical faculty at the hospital.
Applications are invited from postdoctoral scientists and academic clinicians with a track record of attracting significant research funding, high impact and recognized research program.
The candidate is expected to possess an M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent degree from an accredited college or university.
The candidate is expected to have notable and senior level research experiences as a principal investigator of a grant or contract in top universities or research institutes, demonstrating active involvement in initiating research projects, developing protocols, conducting studies, documenting findings, interpreting results in a published report or journal.
Preference will be given to those known and respected within their profession, both nationally and internationally, as distinguished individuals of outstanding scientific competence.

Successful applicants are qualified for supervising Master and Ph.D candidates.

It owns the nation's largest birth cohort study, the Born in Guangzhou Birth Cohort Study, which have recruited over 10,000 women participants by 2014. Among the 7825 cohort children, there are 170 twins and 1 triplets. The biobank of WCHRI stored over 600,000 biospecimens (blood, cord blood, plasma, urine and tissue) from the cohort participants and patients from hospital.
