UPSC symposium for young plant scientists
Umeå Plant Science Centre (UPSC, www.upsc.se) invites promising young scientists for a postdoc project symposium. The aim of the symposium is to bring together postdoc candidates and UPSC group leaders to identify common research interests to develop a project together. The prospective postdocs and group leaders are expected to submit a postdoc fellowship application.
UPSC (www.upsc.se) is the centre of experimental plant biology in Umeå, Sweden. The model systems range from Arabidopsis and trees to actinobacteria and green algae. We provide world-class facilities and state-of-the-art technology platforms for experimental plant biology. The institute is internationally recognized for its excellence and attracts scientist from all over the world. Currently there are about 200 persons from more than 40 different countries working at UPSC creating a multicultural working atmosphere characteristic of today’s science.
We will invite the most interesting candidates to attend a two-day symposium at the end of May 2015 in Umeå, Sweden. We will cover all costs associated with the symposium. During your visit you will have the chance to present your PhD work, visit the institute, identify and discuss potential projects with different research groups and also visit Umeå, the cultural capital of Europe 2014.
To be eligible, you should have obtained your PhD within the last 2 years and have published at least one manuscript as first author in a peer-reviewed journal. Identify research topic(s) at UPSC that you would be interested in pursuing, and justify your choice based on your experience and future plans.

Deadline for the symposium applications is* April 12th 2015*. Deadlines for many fellowship applications are in August, these include but are not limited to EMBO, Marie Curie and Human Frontiers.
