National Sales Manager for Flowcytometry @ Life Technologies Field KY
Manage and oversee the activities of a national, field-based, Technical Sales Specialists (TSS) team for Life Technologies. Hire, train and coach Specialists. Coordinate activities of TSS team with the Commercial Sales Organization, Marketing, Field Applications Support, and Field Service to drive growth for Life Technologies in the flow cytometry market.
As sales leader of the national, Technical Sales Specialist team, drive technology adoption and attain North American revenue growth targets for the Life Technologies flow cytometry portfolio.
Provide leadership, coaching and feedback to direct reports. Maintain records of individual performance. Continually evaluate individual skills, strengths and opportunities for growth. Guide development plans, monitor regularly and clearly communicate performance expectations.
Provide timely feedback to Marketing and Business Unit partners to drive productive marketing and lead generation programs, relevant sales collateral, and application development that best serves growth objectives and enables Life Technologies to win in the market.
Coordinate input to the business from the TSS team to identify key opinion leaders in flow cytometry, provide feedback regarding existing and new technologies, and relevant application and product development.
Coordinate with Field Application and Field Service teams to maximize the effectiveness of product demonstrations, customer training and overall support for greatest customer satisfaction and product performance.
Nature and Scope:
This position interacts with varying levels of internal and external personnel requiring the ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing LIFE product technologies and sales strategy and to influence audiences in support of that strategy. Effectiveness in this role requires knowledge of the Attune product differentiation and the scientific trends affecting the flow cytometry market, as well as the ability to recognize new opportunities.
Decisions are made within policy constraints; proposed solutions are expected to be both creative and practical. Performs duties independently with general instruction given on new projects or assignments. Job encounters problems of moderately diverse scope and moderate to high complexity.
Accuracy is required in performing all functions of this position; mistakes in work could cause significant data errors and financial loss. The incumbent must possess self-motivation, enthusiasm, and a positive demeanor toward the job, the Company and their work team.
Masters or Ph.D. degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, or Biochemistry preferred.
Requires a minimum of five (5) years of successful sales and marketing experience in the life science or related industry. Prior management experience is strongly preferred. Experience in the flow cytometry market is strongly preferred. Customer liaison experience with demonstrated excellence in teaching and/or public speaking is preferred. Prior hands-on lab experience in cell culture, flow cytometry, and molecular biology is helpful. Demonstrated proficiency with standard computer applications. Must have strong management skills, interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effective influencing skills. Proven ability to see new business opportunities, set and meet aggressive revenue growth objectives, and develop strong working relationships across the business.
Has contact with all levels of company employees and external customers.
Works in the field with sales people and in an office environment. Requires standing and walking for long periods throughout the day. May, on a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed.
