The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Nutritional Sciences and Environmental Management invites applications for a W3 Professorship in Food Sciences as of now
Reference is made to § 61 section 7 Hessisches Hochschul-gesetz (HHG) and to conditions of employment based on § 62 HHG. Proficient knowledge of German is expected. The professorship is part of the Institute of Nutritional Science and is integrated into the scientific concept of the Interdisciplinary Research Center for Biosystems, Land Use and Nutrition. The candidate will have to present the subject in research and teaching with the following profile:
In addition to an outstanding Ph.D., additional scientific achievements relevant to the field of food science (e.g. post-doctoral studies), as well as comprehensive teaching experience and a special talent for educating as necessary qualifications, we are expecting you to represent the field of study with great dedication in academic teaching.
The professor of this department will have to give lectures in the Bachelor of Science fields of nutritional science, ecotrophology, food chemistry, and vocational education and training, as well as in the Master of Science fields of nutritional science, nutritional economics, and enology. The field of food science is to be represented in its entire range, including a food chemistry practical course. Helping further develop courses of studies is also desired.
The research focus of this professorship should be in food analysis. The effects of technology and environment on the quality of food, paying special attention to the physiological, metabolic, and/or toxicological aspects, should be in the foreground and should be documented with outstanding publications in this field. Experience in the acquisition and management of third-party funding is also expected.
Readiness to work together in interdisciplinary research associations is a prerequisite, as well as engagement in the Gießen Graduate School for Life Sciences – GGL. Furthermore, cooperation with the research departments of the JLU and of central regions of Hessen as well as with national and international partners is also expected.
