The University of Innsbruck invites applications for the position of a
Full Professorship in MICROBIOLOGY at the Institute of Microbiology, Faculty of Biology, Leopold-Franzens-University Innsbruck.
The position will be based on a permanent civil-law employment contract with the University.
Representing the subject of “Microbiology” both in research and teaching.
The research focus of the future professor should be in the fields of General Microbiology and/or Applied Microbiology or Biotechnology. The basic or applied research topics should be related to prokaryotes (bacteria, archaea) and/or fungi.
Participating in the research programmes and research centres of the faculty as well as a close cooperation with other research groups at the Institute of Microbiology is requested, as well as with other Institutions in Innsbruck, working in related areas.
Offering courses for the Bachelor Programme in Biology, the Master in Microbiology (esp. courses in Applied Microbiology) and for the PhD in Biology.
Participating in the self-administration of the university.
a) A pertinent degree in higher education;
b) A pertinent habilitation or equivalent qualification;
c) Publications in high ranking, international, peer-reviewed journals;
d) Expertise in General and/or Applied Microbiology as well as expert knowledge in working with prokaryotes and/or fungi;
e) Involvement in international research;
f) Pertinent extramural experience;
g) Pronounced didactical skills;
h) Experience in the acquisition of third-party funds;
i) Management skills.

b) Curriculum vitae including a description of the scientific and professional career;
c) A list of peer-reviewed and other publications (including copies of the five most important articles), oral presentations and projects;
d) A description of completed, current and intended activities in research and teaching;
e) A short concept of the planned activities in research and teaching in Innsbruck.

The basic salary is set down in the collective bargaining agreement for university employees. Professors are in the remuneration group A 1. For the position the monthly salary is 4.571,20 Euro per month (14 x). Depending on qualification and experience a higher salary can be a topic in the negotiations with the rector.
