Job Title: Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences
The Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences teaches undergraduate courses in biology, microbiology, and anatomy & physiology. The selected candidate will evaluate, revise and develop curriculum, work cooperatively with colleagues to maintain currency of academic resources and instructional materials, improve teaching and learning, and remain current in the field. Other duties include participation in campus and college-wide committees and task forces, maintaining office hours for professional activities and student conferences, and assisting in the development and implementation of the College's instructional and institutional goals.
At a minimum the selected candidate must have a master's degree from a regionally accredited institution with a graduate major concentration in biology or a related field (minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in biology).
The ideal candidate will have:
• Doctorate degree in microbiology, physiology, biology, or related field with academic and experiential strengths in microbiology, physiology, and anatomy
• Proficiency in discipline related laboratory applications
• Experience in utilizing "smart classroom" technology and appropriate discipline and pedagogical software
• Experience teaching in a college setting: experience with curriculum development, learning communities, and service learning is desirable as well
