Volunteer Studies and Clinical Services/Research Manager
Salary: £26,545 – £37,410 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience)

HNR is the UK’s foremost nutrition science unit, leading research and surveys to improve the health of the population with a focus on cardiometabolic risk and obesity, musculoskeletal health, intestinal function and nutritional vulnerabilities.
A vacancy has arisen for a VSCS/Research Manager within Volunteer Studies and Clinical Services (VSCS). This position is pivotal in the setting up and management of all volunteer studies at HNR. The VSCS manager provides practical support and research governance oversight to researchers as well as project and logistics management particularly for externally funded and led studies/surveys.
You will require a science degree and/or a nursing qualification in a relevant subject with experience of working with patients or volunteers in a clinical or research environment.
Experience in phlebotomy, or a strong aptitude for training in phlebotomy and other procedures, is of key importance as is a working knowledge of ethical and clinical governance issues surrounding research involving human participants including a good understanding of GCP/GRP. The ability to perform intravenous cannulation is desirable as is experience of working with body composition equipment (DXA). Experience of vascular function measurements and ECG would also be an advantage.
Excellent interpersonal and management skills are required. The post will involve communicating with other members of staff at all levels and with research volunteers. There is direct line management responsibility for VSCS Research Assistants/Co-ordinators and responsibility for all VSCS users.
This is a full time, open ended position and may be available as a job share for 2 people, line managed by Dr Sumantra Ray, the HNR Senior Medical Advisor/VSCS Chief.
