The Blizard Institute is the largest institute of Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry and aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.

The Institute is seeking to expand its Laboratory Management team and applications are invited for an Institute Technician, who is required to provide support across a wide range of laboratory activities. This involves contact with biological agents, chemicals and hazardous materials and carrying out other routine laboratory duties as required. A flexible approach to working hours may be necessary from time to time.

Candidates should possess relevant academic/vocational qualifications such as GCSE, NVQ or City & Guilds and demonstrable relevant experience or the equivalent in experience. An understanding of the requirements of Health and Safety regulations and their application to a laboratory environment is essential. A willingness to learn new methods and work proactively is an important part of this post. Applicants should be computer literate and be familiar with relevant IT packages e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc. including the basic use of instrumentation software.

The post is full time and permanent. Starting salary will be £19,534 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, final salary pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
