NUFFIELD DEPARTMENT OF ORTHOPAEDICS, RHEUMATOLOGY AND MUSCULOSKELETAL SCIENCES (NDORMS)
Musculoskeletal MRI Physicist (114413)
Grade 7: £30,434 – £37,394 per annum
 
We are seeking a highly motivated Musculoskeletal MRI Physicist to work within our MSK Imaging Unit. You will be based within the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences at the Botnar Research Centre, Oxford.
 
This is a new post, designed to complement the existing clinical expertise within NDORMS. You will develop an independent research programme focussed on conventional (3T and dGEMRIC) and novel (7T) MRI imaging platforms. You will have two principal roles; to provide imaging support to clinical academic colleagues and to develop your own programme of research within MSK MRI. Core support will include access to DPhil students, workspace and imaging hardware. You will also work closely with the senior academic staff at FMRIB.
 
You must have a PhD and working knowledge and experience of novel MRI sequences and MRI spectroscopy in musculoskeletal conditions with evidence of national recognition of achievement within the subject area. You will also have evidence of competed and published research as well as showing evidence of decision-making, problem-solving, planning and organisation. Teaching experience in a Higher Education Institute as well as a track-record of publications in musculoskeletal imaging would be desirable and a working knowledge of 7T-MRI and coil construction would be an advantage.
 
This is a full-time fixed-term appointment for one year in the first instance.
