Opening For Laboratory Operations Manager - London

The Division of Medicine, with 130 independent investigators, is the largest department in the Faculty of Medical Sciences, within the School of Life and Medical Sciences at UCL. The Division brings together clinical and non-clinical academics in an interdisciplinary environment for world-class research, teaching and patient-care. The Division of Medicine is comprised of ~400 staff, located at two campuses, i.e. the Bloomsbury Campus and the Royal Free Campus.

Applications are invited for the post of Laboratory Operations Manager, to be based at the Bloomsbury site (Cruciform Building, Gower Street, WC1E).
The post holder will be responsible for the management and maintenance of core facilities and communal equipment for the Division of Medicine in the Cruciform Building (primarily for the Wolfson Institute for Biomedical Research) and the Rayne Building; facilities include cell culture and radiation laboratories. They will offer expert advice on the development of new technologies and procurement of scientific equipment and will induct new starters in the safe use of equipment/facilities. They will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and security of the Divisional space in the Rayne building, liaising with UCL Estates as required. They work as part of a team with the Divisional Safety Advisor, supporting the safe functioning of the Division’s laboratories within these buildings and providing cover in the Safety Advisor’s absence.
