Tissue Bank Operations Manager

Applications are sought for a Tissue Bank Operations Manager to manage the running and delivery of the Institute’s Tissue Banks, including the Breast Cancer Campaign Tissue Bank and the Pancreas Tissue Bank, amongst others. The post will be based at the Barts Cancer Institute, within the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary, University of London.

Essential requirements for this post include BSc in a scientific subject and significant experience in the organization and running of a technical service, experience in tissue handling and budget and grant management. Experience in project management would also be desirable. Previous experience in the implementation of Data Protection Act, Human Tissue Act, Good Clinical Practice would be an advantage. A demonstrated ability to communicate well, work within a team and maintain good laboratory records are also essential.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an enthusiastic forward-looking team in a vibrant environment, providing an invaluable resource to researchers. The postholder will interact with Clinical Leads of the Banks, the research staff as well as the funding bodies. The post is a full time, fixed term position for 3 ½ years. Starting salary will be in the Grade 5 range (£35,319 - £37,275 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance).
