Conservation Genetics is one of four sections in the newly formed Conservation Science Department. The main research focus of the section relates to the use of modern population genetic tools leading to improved conservation management of rare species.
Reporting to the Senior Research Leader of the team, you will be a member of the conservation genetics section. You will be responsible for your own grant-funded research project/s and provide day-to-day supervision for post-docs, PhD students, Career Development Fellows and research assistants. Building collaborations with colleagues in other parts of Kew and other organisations will be encouraged. You will also contribute to the running of the Conservation Science Department and the Science Directorate.
You will have a PhD in plant science and post-doctoral experience in plant population genetics, with specialist knowledge in development of research programmes, methodologies and analysis. A strong publication record and a familiarity with the existing literature and research in the field are essential attributes, and a focus on conservation is desirable. You will have experience in successful grant writing and staff and/or student supervision. You will be given the opportunity to build a team focusing on research into an agreed area of plant population genetics.
