Contract Duration: 5 years

Job Description
The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the highest ranked scientific research organisations in the world. The Headquarters Laboratory is located in Heidelberg (Germany), with additional sites in Grenoble (France), Hamburg (Germany), Hinxton (UK) and Monterotondo (Italy).

The Structural and Computational Biology Unit at EMBL Heidelberg seeks to recruit an outstanding group leader in integrated structural biology. We are particularly interested in candidates that apply NMR spectroscopy techniques to answer fundamental questions in molecular or cellular biology. Interests of the unit include protein-protein interaction networks as well as interactions of proteins and protein networks with small molecule effectors and metabolites.

It is desirable that the successful candidate complements and synergizes with existing activities in the unit. The vision of the unit is to integrate various structural biology approaches (X-ray, NMR, electron microscopy, tomography and light microscopy) with computational, chemical and systems biology approaches. The successful candidate should therefore be strongly motivated to work in the collaborative and multidisciplinary environment at EMBL.

The SCB Unit at EMBL offers access to an integrated structural biology environment that includes a state-of-the-art NMR facility comprising different NMR spectrometers (800 MHz, 700 MHz, 600 MHz and 500 MHz) and high performance computing clusters.
Further information about research in the Structural and Computational Biology Unit and at EMBL can be found at the EMBL web page.
