The Norwich Research Park (NRP) has recently been awarded considerable funding from the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council in the form of a Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) until 2023. We are now seeking to appoint an individual to act as both the Director with overall responsibility for management of the DTP and the Chair of the Graduate School for the Norwich Bioscience Institutes. An additional, less time consuming role will be that of Co-Director of the MSc in Plant Genetics and Crop Improvement (PGCI) run jointly by the University of East Anglia (UEA) and the John Innes Centre (JIC).
The post holder will be based at JIC and work very closely with senior academics and the Post Graduate Research Directors at the UEA and all four research institutes on the Norwich Research Park (John Innes Centre, Institute of Food Research, The Genome Analysis Centre and The Sainsbury Laboratory) to promote good practice in and support for the graduate student experience and postgraduate programmes.
Candidates will have a PhD in a relevant scientific discipline with experience of university-level teaching, in addition to supervision and interviewing of PhD students. The post-holder will play a pivotal role in ensuring the NRP continues to recruit enthusiastic and able graduate students and that they receive world-class training in all aspects of research.
Salary on appointment will be within the range £57, 780 to £64, 200 per annum depending on qualifications, skills and experience. The post is available on a job-share basis.
