Head of Administration/Verwaltungsleiter (m/f)

You will be responsible for setting up an efficient administration. As an experienced leader you will oversee and guide the employees in the administration that cover the fundamental services in personnel, accounting, procurement and technical services. You play the lead role in ensuring that key processes like Controlling, budget planning, personnel and accounting (SAP R/3) and procurement are established and efficient. You will report and advise to the managing director. Furthermore, you will maintain primary relationship with headquarters in Munich and communicate with them as necessary.
 
You will need to demonstrate excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills in German and English and be familiar with the use of the financial system (SAP) as well as public budget and tarrif law. You will have the multi-tasking ability and flexibility to work in this dynamic and ever-evolving environment, and will work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines. This is an excellent opportunity to work in an exciting academic research environment where you will join our international team.
 
The post is full-time and initially for 3 years and is based in Cologne, Germany. The position is available immediately but the starting date is negotiable.
 
The new Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing was founded in 2008. It is part of a wider, and unique, network of several research institutions in the Cologne-Bonn area focused on research on ageing and ageing-related disease, constituting an expert and collaborative environment for research. Currently hosted in a new research institute building of the University of Cologne, the MPI will move into its own new, purpose-designed building in 2012. With the growth of the institute the number of tasks is increasing and requires an experienced project manager.
