£35646 to £43840 per annum, depending on skills & experience (Salary can progress to £50,822 per annum, subject to performance)

The Centre for Biomolecular Sciences is a multidisciplinary research building comprising of research groups from six Schools across the University. This is a challenging and demanding role to provide competent health and safety advice to the Centre Director and Building and Operations Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, delivery and evaluation of safety training to approximately 380 staff and postgraduate students. In addition, the CBS Safety Officer will formulate strategies and policies, monitor their implementation and maintain up-to-date databases for inductions, risk assessments, COSHH assessments and DSE assessments.
The person appointed will liaise with the University Safety Office, which is responsible for developing, co-ordinating and monitoring safety policy across the University.
Candidates must hold a NEBOSH Diploma, or equivalent, and have received, or be working towards, membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health and have considerable experience in a similar or related role, preferably in a research environment. They must be confident, approachable, have strong interpersonal skills and be self motivated and have enthusiasm for the role and the continual development of a positive safety culture throughout CBS.
