-Project: "Genome Sequencing of Brazilian snakes focused on the study of toxins." The project aims at sequencing the genomes of some venomous snakes through Next Generation Sequencing technologies (NGS), bioinformatic analysis of raw data, genome assembly and annotation. The post-doc will be partially involved in the wet lab activities but will be mainly active in the interpretation of the sequences by searching for toxin genes, describing their detailed structure, identifying paralogues and comparing the elements identified with the current knowledge on the molecular basis of snake venoms. Applicants should have proven experience in projects of genomics or transcriptomics and NGS bioinformatics. We will be prioritizing those with prior knowledge of animal venoms and/or evolution of gene families and/or good skills in bioinformatics.
How to apply: Candidates should send a presentation letter with a brief statement of scientific experience, motivations for the post-doctoral research and indication of two professional references, and updated Curriculum Vitae to the principal investigator of the individual project.
