Went too far when setting pH

Hi! I was pH-ing some HEPES to 8.2 and went too far with the NaOH (now solution has a pH of 8.34). Can I add a bit of HCl to lower it back to 8.2? If not, is there any time that doing that would be okay? Would there be any time that the opposite would be okay (adding some NaOH when going too far with the HCl)? Thanks!

I think it would be fine

I think it would be fine unless the final concentrations of Chloride are significantly effected or your osmolarity is significantly  changed.

The correct answer is really dependent on the specific application of the solution you are preparing.
