World Hypertension Congress 2009 being held in Beijing, China on October 29 - November 1, 2009.
The World Health Organization estimates that by the year 2020, cardiovascular diseases and stroke will be the leading causes of death and disability worldwide. It is predicted that hypertension will be the leading causal contributor to this epidemic, followed by tobacco use. We are all asking this question: we know so much about the etiology, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, so why then do we still have so many problems in dealing with them?
In an endeavor to address this question, this 4-day conference will focus on an important area, Hypertension Management—From Bench to Bedside and Community, and will provide an opportunity to look back with pride on the advances achieved in hypertension and cardiovascular disease management, and more importantly, to look ahead to the great challenges we are facing right now and those we will be facing in the future. How do we apply what we know now and bring it from the research bench to the bedside and the community?
