Should scientists place further research/aid into the field of Protoscience

I believe that the ever expanding world of science requires more fields and disciplines. This opens the need for Protoscience and new theories. Become creative and expand your imaginations whilst still helping the human race in it's endeavor for more knowledge.

If a proto-oncogene is a gene

If a proto-oncogene is a gene that has the potential to become an oncogene (some pre-stage) then protoscience may be something that has the potential to become scientific - sounds a bit new age to me.

It could be a spelling mistake though: "Prontoscience" is something my PhD supervisor was very keen on!

Protoscience is a theory or

Protoscience is a theory or hypothesis about a new scientific field but has not yet proved it. Therefore Protoscience can contain any scientifically based theory. Think back hundreds of years to when humans believed the earth was the centre of the known universe. When the new heliocentric theory was proposed, no one believed it. now in our day in age we must embrace new theories despite what we think of them. there is always a first time for everything. who knows, in later generations a discovery might be made that contradicts our own current beliefs. there even might be a new field of science altogether! What I am getting at is that new scientists should not ignore researching a theory or belief on the grounds that everybody else thinks otherwise of it. Do not be a sheep. begin research into new areas! not just what we are researching now! fill in the blank pages of our life and surrounding environment n matter how improbable it may seem. here are a short list of famous protoscientists:
# Nicholas Copernicus
# Albert Einstein
#Newton

Nice. I like it.  One thing I

Nice. I like it.  One thing I've been thinking a lot about lately is how different molecules behave when you get down to the quantun level.  Perhaps we are missing something enormous by thinking of molecular interactions as two things might interact in our macro view of things.

yeh,

yeh,
it is like that initially some one says sun is mooving around the earth, and another says earth is moov around sun but the fact is come and prove after many years. This contravercy startup new ara and many starts to prove the things.
So, lets start it who knows which invention will be discovered!

Just remember that if your

Just remember that if your hypothesis is *too* out there, then it will difficult to get your project funded, especially during a recession...  I guess it's just a balance between going into new and exciting research areas and being a *little* bit of sheep...  :-)

If it were up to me, I'd like to be like Gregor Mendel, where all of your physical (and perhaps spiritual) needs are met (from the monastery in Mendel's case) and you just research whatever's on your mind...
