Location : San Diego , CA
Type: Employee
Under general direction, the Scientist Epigenomics is responsible for planning and executing research and development projects and collaborations within the Molecular Applications department. The ideal candidate will apply biochemical and molecular biological methods for the development of novel methods for elucidation of epigenetic changes, in particular cytosine methylation, and other applications in the field of cancer research.

Develop next versions of Sequenoms methods for analysis of epigenetic changes as well as inception and development new applications in the field of epigenetics. Plan, implement, and execute research and development projects within the Molecular Applications Department
Identify development opportunities that can lead and contribute to positive revenue streams for Sequenom
Work on problems of diverse scope where experimental setup requires DOEs (Design of Experiment) and where analysis of data requires computational capabilities in Excel and MatLab or R.
Lead projects requiring collaborations with other Molecular Applications personnel, employees within other departments, as well as collaborations with external partners
Select appropriate model systems and clinical samples for proof-of-concept of the developed methods
Participate and present in research related conferences
Publish scientifically relevant data in peer reviewed journals
Participate in development of patent applications, if applicable
