what is the importance of genomic sequencing and analyses in biomedical research?
Your question is very broad and one that has not been really answered yet. The main limitation of course is that genomic sequencing is still pretty expensive and the information that can be derived from it as far as biomedical research is concerned is still quite limited.
But to start answering your question: if you sequence the genomic DNA of an individual, you know what are the mutations his individual carries. By knowing this you can make educated estimations as far as what is the chance this individual will develop certain kinds of disease. As a result of this the individual can be advised to change his habits to better protect him or herself from adverse health effects based on his genotype.
I hope this is what you were looking for. If you were looking for something more specific please let us know.
Its really wonderful to hear from you.
I was basically looking for something like what you just explained but I think you can elaborate more if you can.
Thank you very much for the effort shown.
