"dpi" matters

What is the appropriate "dpi" for scanning developed bands on hyperfilms? What's expected in most of the journals if not specified?
Does scanned films at 300dpi or 600dpi can be saved at different dpi or resolution , & it going to be accepted by the authors?
Thanks

400dpi is the minimum

400dpi is the minimum requirement for most journals.

you should read the

you should read the "instructions for authors" pertaining to figure preapration for whichever journal you intend to submit your manuscript.
However, freqently journals want black & white/grayscale images to be 1200 dpi and color images to be 600dpi.
