PhD Studentship in Matrix Biology / Biomaterials
Network of Excellence for Functional Biomaterials (NFB)
The Network of Excellence for Functional Biomaterials (NFB) at National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG) invites applications for two fully funded (fees and stipend) PhD research positions commencing on September 2009 or soon after that.
Project Description: The proposed projects transfer knowledge from the field of Matrix Biology into Biomaterials Science, Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine. In brief, three-dimensional collagen-based scaffolds will be fabricated and subsequently functionalised using novel dendrimeric systems. The functionalisation technology is expected to be used for incorporation and sustained release of therapeutic molecules.
Candidate Specifications: Applications are welcomed from candidates holding, or expecting to obtain, a first class honour degree in Cell/Matrix Biology, Biomaterials or other Biomedical or Biological discipline. A post graduate course is desirable. Excellent analytical and communication skills; and fluency in written and spoken English are essential. For informal enquiries please contact Dr Dimitrios Zeugolis (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Organisation: The Network of Excellence for Functional Biomaterials (NFB) is a partnership of scientists, engineers and clinicians, who all share a common vision of developing the next generation of functionalised biomaterials that will provide solutions for current clinical needs. The output of the Network will lead to innovative therapeutic strategies for application to a wide variety of human diseases.
How to Apply: Interested candidates should submit to the Network of Excellence for Functional Biomaterials at eval(unescape('%64%6f%63%75%6d%65%6e%74%2e%77%72%69%74%65%28%27%3c%61%20%68%72%65%66%3d%22%6d%61%69%6c%74%6f%3a%74%61%72%61%2e%63%6f%73%67%72%61%76%65%40%6e%75%69%67%61%6c%77%61%79%2e%69%65%22%3e%74%61%72%61%2e%63%6f%73%67%72%61%76%65%40%6e%75%69%67%61%6c%77%61%79%2e%69%65%3c%2f%61%3e%27%29%3b')) a cover letter outlining their suitability for the project, a detailed CV and names of three referees.
Closing date for receipt of applications is 5pm on Friday 31st of July 2009.
