which is more indicative ? Hydroxyproline in serum or in urine....

Dear all,

I  am willing to measure hydroxyproline as a marker for osteoporosis...
Do anyone know what is the better sample for my measurement serum or urine..... and free hydroxyproline determination or total hydroxyproline after acid hydrolysis....

I have a spectrophotometric assay ... and it has been standardized.... but i need to know which sample is better....

I hope i find a quick reply....

best regards

Hydroxyproline is a component

Hydroxyproline is a component of bone collagen constituting around 13% of the same.

Urine samples are better for determination of hydroxyproline levels

thanx alot...

thanx alot...
but even if i measure total hydroxyproline in serum....
from my readings, hydroxyproline levels in urine may be correlated to kidney functionality.... as it may give false results due to any complications....

what is ur opinion in that....

hope anyone can help...

best regards
