Pre-gastrulation difference between amniotes and anamniotes

Voiculescu O, Bertocchini F, Wolpert L, Keller RE, Stern CD. The amniote primitive streak is defined by epithelial cell intercalation before gastrulation. Nature advance online publication 10 October 2007 | doi:10.1038/nature06211

This paper uses electroporation of Morpholino oligos into chick embryos to knock down genes involved in formation of the primitive streak. See the supplementary online information for videos.

What a great publication for the Morpholino technology!

Good day Tony,

Good day Tony,

They are getting more difficult to find -- not because the rate of publication using Morpholinos is decreasing (instead it is on the rise). Rather as Morpholinos have become a more established technology, investigators no longer mention in their abstracts that they used Morpholinos. My days of finding 90%+ of Morpholino papers with PubMed searches are over. I can do full-text search in PubMed Central and in HighWire Press, but these search only a fraction of the journals. I caught the Nature paper cited above by looking at the abstract and following a hunch -- then the online supplemental information provided the proof.

After shifting to industry, the old academic habits are often useful ;)

Best regards to you Tony,
