Comprehensive Approaches to the in vivo Assesof Cardiovascular Fn in Mice

The workshop focuses on the assessment of cardiovascular function in mouse models. This is a comprehensive program which includes didactic lectures by leaders in the field of cardiovascular physiology, pharmacology and pathology, followed by several days of hands on workshops.
Sessions will focus on non-invasive high-resolution ultrasound using the Visualsonics Vevo 770, the Vevo 2100 system and telemetry (DataSciences International) and catheter-dependent (ADInstruments) approaches to monitoring cardiovascular parameters in vivo. The final day will cover methods for analyzing data collected during the course of the workshop and will include study design and statistical analysis. Surgical and anesthesic techniques will also be taught
This workshop can be used for continuing education units for AALAS recertification.

We are pleased to announce that the registration fee has not increased this year!
$1,500, $1,200 students (requires proof of student, post-doc, or medical fellowship status with registration) The fee includes shared lodging and some meals, details will be provided to registered participants.
Enrollment is limited to 16, so early application is advised.  Applications by women and minorities in the life sciences are highly encouraged.

Hotel/Travel

Upon acceptance, course attendees will be assigned shared lodging at a full service hotel located in downtown Bar Harbor. Rooms will be assigned same genger/double occupancy.  Attendees must contact the event planner, Laura Lelansky, for all reservation information. Transportation will be provided between the hotel and the laboratory.
Should registrant desire single room accommodations, no reduction in registration fee can be made for single lodging. Lodging options can be found at the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce.

Air
Bar Harbor is served by two airports:

New visa rules by the U.S. State Department now in effect beginning in August 2008, visitors traveling to the U.S. from visa waiver countries (i.e. Europe, Japan, Australia, etc.) will have to register online 3 days in advance of travel.

Bar Harbor is approximately 6 hours by car from the greater Boston area.
