SO4 in ACSF

Hello fellows:
I have trouble to get good patch from old animals recently and am looking for others' protocol. Some people use MgCl2 in their cutting solution and MgSO4 in ACSF. Can anyone tell me what's the difference using SO4 instead Cl in ACSF? Thanks.

The only time I see MgSO4

The only time I see MgSO4 used is when people are trying to get low chloride solutions.  With low chloride, one would less interference of chloride channels with , for example, potassium channel readings.
