Drug stability

How do you find out the stability of a drug in ACSF? I do slice physiology and patch onto cells and will perfuse drugs onto the slice. Sometimes I'm not sure if I should make up the drug solution fresh for every cell or not. I imagine it depends on the drug, but what are your thoughts in general on this?

People in my lab have looked

People in my lab have looked at drug stability by formulating the drug and leaving it to stand for different amounts of time (ie., 72 hours, 48 hours, 24 hours, 12 hours, 6 hours etc.) and then running the samples through a mass spectrometer to see how much is still there.

My compound is light sensitive and unstable after several hours, so I make it up fresh (ie., dilute aliquots just before I need to use them) for every experiment.

Having spoken to someone in

Having spoken to someone in my lab who has actually done this, specifically you should use LC-MS to see how much compound is left  (mass spec itself will only tell you if the compound is there or not).
