Alternatives to TRAP staining for osteoclasts

Hi,
Does anyone know of a good osteoclast staining technique other than TRAP?
I've got bone samples embedded in paraffin blocks that I want to stain for osteoclasts. I know that TRAP is the traditional stain used for that, however, my samples have been in formalin fixative for more than 4 months (undecalcified) and my attempts at TRAP were unsuccessful (nothing showed up!).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Joy
