Raspberry Pi as a Gas Chromatograph controller?
  • Hello,
  •
  • I was thinking about a problem we have at the university, and thought maybe this could be a solution. The problem is that we have a Gas Chromatograph which is quite old, which is plugged into an old pc via an 'aux' port. The old pc runs Windows '95 with MS-DOS. It has no USB compatibility, nor can the software be upgraded, (I don't even think they still make aux PCI cards anymore nowadays). My solution would be: Can it be attached to a raspberry pi, so the pi could substitute the old pc as a controller. I read somewhere that MS-DOS programs should be able to work on the pi, and the HiFi-Berry has an aux port, or use an USB-to-Aux adapter. Why would it be usefull? The old computer has no internet connectivity, (only wifi in the building mostly) and you can't attach a printer or thumbdrive to it, to keep your files.
  • What do you guys think?
