HPLC

Dear all,

Can i compare the compound in the chromatogram(HPLC), if i run the testing for different sample with the same test method. I can use the retention time to say that on that particular retention times it is the same compund that eluete from the column right?
then how can i differentiate the amount of the compound in each different samples? What is area, height, area% and height%  mean for?

Thanks =)

You should find a book or

You should find a book or reference about HPLC and read about the technique so that you are more familiar with these procedures.

You are correct that retention time is used to identify compounds, based on injection of a standard.  You can also use the response (peak area or peak height) for the standard to calculate the amount in an unknown sample.

Dear Sir,

Dear Sir,
Thanks for the reply. I have another question to ask about the retention time. In my chromatogram I have peaks with RT 4.774 and RT 4.950. It is a twin peak that not separated nicely, so is it mean that this is actually same compound?
The RT can be a bit different for same compound in different sample right? how much different it can be?

Thanks again. Hope to here a comment soon.
